What does the course consist of?
- Four units, two in the first year and two in the second year
- Options to study Textiles, Fine Art or Unendorsed Art & Design
- Developing an appreciation of the visual world
- Learning how to develop a sophisticated understanding of materials and techniques
- Encouraging a good working knowledge of the formal elements of the subject
- Understanding how Art functions in the wider world and what it actually contributes to everyday life
- Reading and researching wider issues connected with the subject
What are the entry requirements?
- At least 5 A* to C passes at GCSE
- Ideally, one of these will be Art & Design
- A qualification in Textiles or in a design-related subject is also suitable
How is this course assessed?
- Internally, with selected students externally moderated at the end of June each year.
What might this course lead on to?
- Progression to study at Cleveland College of Art and Design
- Higher Education
- Employment in the textile or fashion industry
- Careers in theatre costume, illustration, marketing, advertising etc
- Conservation, gallery work, teaching
