What does the course consist of?
- A wide range of activities: lectures, discussion, fieldwork, practical work and investigations
- Three modules to complete AS Biology:
• Biology and disease – how desease affects basic body systems
• The variety of living organisms – genetic and species diversity
• Practical and investigative skills - ISA
- A further three modules to complete A2 Biology:
• Populations and environment – ecology and ecosystems
• Control in cells and organisms - homeostasis and basic physiology
• Practical and investigative skills - ISA
- Fieldwork visit to Robin Hoods Bay.
What are the entry requirements?
- At least 5 A* to C passes at GCSE
- It is expected that this will include core science and additional science passes, or core plus single sciences
How is this course assessed?
- Coursework is assessed by one practical investigation each year
- You take module tests each year, rather than a single end of course examination
