What does the course consist of?
- Looking at hardware, software and processor components
- Understanding the technicalities of the Internet
- Designing well structured programs, using a variety of programming techniques
- Comparison of different types of programming languages
What are the entry requirements?
- At least 5 A* - C passes at GCSE
- Grade C or higher in GCSE ICT or equivalent (if this subject was taken)
- Grade C or higher in GCSE Mathematics
How is this course assessed?
- AS – 1½ hour written exam on computer theory
- AS – 1½ hour written exam on programming techniques and logic
- A2 – 2 hour exam based on theory work
- A2 – Coursework - Create and document a programming project of your choice.
