tuition fees
The tuition fees for an international student starting a full-time course in September 2009 will be £5,200 per College year.
The fees will remain fixed at this level for the second year of a student’s course. Payment of these fees admits a student to a full-time course of study. The precise details of the course will be negotiated with the student. The student has potential access to any course of study offered by the College to local UK students.
The fees include:
- access to any GCSE, A-Level or Vocational A-Level course offered by the College which is appropriate for the student;
- tuition in classes alongside local UK students;
- special help with English language, if needed;
- access to any Enrichment Studies offered by the College (a wide range of vocational and recreational activities including music and sport);
- tutorial support and guidance from a Senior Tutor;
- full careers advice and guidance in applying to UK universities or elsewhere;
- access to the College’s Learning Resource Centre;
- loan of essential textbooks;
- entry fees for public examinations (but not second or re-sit entries).
Other College expenses may include:
Payment of Tuition Fees
There are two methods of payment:
- Full payment (£5,200) at the start of the College year in September, or
- Payment in three instalments during the College year (September £2,090, January £1,600, April £1,600 – total payable £5,290, including £90 administration charge).
Late or non-payment of Fees
- A surcharge of 5% per calendar month or part thereof may be added to bills not paid by the due date.
- Students who are unable to pay their fees by the due date must inform the College at the earliest opportunity. Every effort will be made by the College to help the student.
Tuition Fee Status: ‘overseas’ and ‘home’ students
- The majority of students living outside the UK and EEC are likely to qualify as ‘overseas’ students under UK law and thus be liable to pay fees, as outlined above.
- ‘Home’ students between the ages of 16 and 19 are educated free and students aged 19 and over pay tuition fees at a lower ‘home’ rate.
- Any applicant who considers that they may qualify as a ‘Home’ student should make this clear on their application form. The College will contact them to clarify the matter.
- In order to qualify as a ‘Home’ student one of the following needs to apply:
• You will have been ‘ordinarily resident’ and ‘settled’ in the UK for the three year period immediately preceding the September in which you start your course. (‘Ordinary residence’ is residence which is not wholly or mainly for the purpose of receiving full-time education: ‘settled’ indicates that there is no restriction on your permanent residence in the UK).
• You are the child of a European Community national and you will have been ordinarily resident in any member state of the European Community for the three year period immediately preceding the September in which you intend to start your course.
• You are aged 16-18 and accompanying parents who have leave to enter the UK.
• You have a full UK passport showing British citizenship.
