Why should I choose this course?
- I want to study a business course which places a great deal of emphasis on coursework
- I want to set up and run my own business
- I want to study all aspects of business activity through investigation of real business situations
What does the course consist of?
- Applied Business Studies has a practical nature and there is a strong emphasis on the development of investigation skills and use of IT
- You will complete a series of coursework investigations into a range of business activities, using evidence collected from real business organizations
- The course can be taken as:
• A 6-unit single award over two years
• A 12-unit double award over two years
• A 3-unit AS award for those students who do not wish to progress to the second year programme
- The opportunity to take part in The 'Proshare' Investment Competition; Young Enterprise; visit local and national businesses and participate in study visits to London or Prague
What are the entry requirements?
- At least 5 A* to C passes at GCSE
- It is not necessary to have studied Business previously
How is this course assessed?
- This course has a 66% coursework content. The remainder of the marks will be based on external examinations
- Both AS and A Applied courses follow this pattern
