Course Tutor: Martin Speight – Professional Cricket Coach through Sckill4Sport
Why should I choose this course?
- I am interested in playing cricket whilst studying full-time at college
- I would like to gain national sports-related and cricket qualifications
What does the course consist of?
- The cricket coaching will be organised and managed by Martin Speight, formerly a professional cricketer with Durham and Sussex. Martin is an ECB National coach
- This is an academic study programme – students will be expected to study a level 3 programme concurrently with the cricket option
- Four hours per week practical coaching and sport-specific development along with academic study
- The main full time courses likely to be attached to this academy are:
• Level 3 – AS/A2 programme (over 2 years)
• BTEC National Diploma
What are the entry requirements?
- At least 5 A* to C passes at GCSE for the level 3 programme
- A history at club level cricket
How is this course assessed?
- There is no formal assessment, however, students will be expected to complete a range of coaching qualifications including an Umpires certificate (GL6) and a Level 1 coaching course
