Why should I choose this course?

What does the course consist of?
- Practical elements (50% of total A-Level mark)
• Dance performance and Choreographic skills are demonstrated through performance of short dance pieces in moderated conditions.
- Theoretical Elements (50% of total A-Level mark)
• Understanding of physical and interpretive skills needed for performance and choreographic theory that enables a dance idea to be communicated are examined through the written papers. Appreciation and understanding of professional works across ballet, modern contemporary and musical theatre genres are also assessed.
What are the entry requirements?
- At least 5 A* to C passes at GCSE
- Students must have experience of performing dance
- It is advantageous if you have trained in ballet, modern contemporary, or jazz dance. However, all dance backgrounds can be accepted
- If you have studied Dance at GCSE or BTEC 1st Diploma level, then a C grade (GCSE) or a Merit (BTEC) must be achieved
- Every applicant who applies to study this subject must attend a performance-based audition.
