Why should I choose this course?
- I want to develop my technical ability, through contemporary approaches to movement

What does the course consist of?
- Performance skills, choreographic abilities and thoeretical understanding are assessed at both AS and A2
- The focus for AS is based on solo choreography and performance within a duo/trio, training, technique, health and safety of the dancer and analysis of choreography and performance within professional works. At A2 work focuses on a particular study area from either Modern Contemporary Dance, Ballet or Jazz. Students perform in styles related to a specific study area and develop knowledge and understanding of the developments within this genre. An analytical study of one set work and its cultural and artistic content and the process of creating small group pieces are taught.
What are the entry requirements?
- At least 5 A* to C passes at GCSE
- Students must have experience of performing dance
- It is advantageous if you have trained in ballet, modern contemporary, or jazz dance. However, all dance backgrounds can be accepted
- If you have studied Dance at GCSE or BTEC 1st Diploma level, then a C grade (GCSE) or a Merit (BTEC) must be achieved
- Every applicant who applies to study this subject must attend a performance-based audition.

- AS: Unit 1 – Understanding Dance (written paper) 20% of total A Level
- AS: Unit 2 – Choreography and Performance 30% of total A Level

- A2: Unit 4 – Group Choreography and Solo performance 25% of total A Level
