What does the course consist of?
- Topics such as - how and why our language changes; how children learn to communicate; and why there are regional and social differences in speech
- Analysis of written, spoken and electronic texts
- Exploring important issues about language, power and representation
- Independent research of some topics
- Much of the work is done by discussion in groups
What are the entry requirements?
- At least 5 A* to C passes at GCSE
- A good grade (A* to C) in English Language
How is this course assessed?
- Two units in the first year. 60% Exam, 40% coursework
- Two units in the second year. 60% Exam, 40% coursework
