Why should I choose this course?

What does the course consist of?
- Studying a selection of modern and pre-twentieth century novels, poetry and plays (including Shakespeare)
- Reading a variety of literature from all periods to help develop literary analysis skills
- Developing strong, independent, critical skills
- Much of the work is by discussion in groups
- Workshops, videos and theatre visits
What are the entry requirements?
- At least 5 A*to C passes at GCSE
- A good grade (A* to C) in English Language
- A good grade (A* to C) in English Literature
How is this course assessed?
- Two units in the first year assessed by an open book examination and two pieces of written coursework. 60% Exam, 40% coursework.
- Two units in the second year assessed by closed book examination and two pieces of written coursework. 60% Exam, 40% coursework.
