GCSE Media Studies

During this course you study several areas of the mass media, looking at areas which have the greatest impact on our lives – newspapers, television, advertising, pop music, etc.

You don’t need to have done Media Studies before to take it at GCSE but it is important that you have good oral and written communication skills; enjoy group work as well as working on your own and enjoy watching television, reading a newspaper etc.

The course involves classroom discussion supported by notes and visual material. Many of the coursework assignments are about personal research and opinion, and there is often a practical element to them. Assessment is 50% coursework, 50% written examination.
