GCSE Core Science

This course follows on from all GCSE sciences, to look at the three sciences in one subject block.

The course involves a wide range of activities: practical work, discussions, lectures & group work. The course has equal amounts of chemistry, physics & biology at GCSE & the grades on offer range from A*-G. There are 3 exam sessions: November, March and June and two multiple choice exams are taken at each session. There is also a piece of coursework that contributes to the overall grade.


The units to be studied are:
Chemistry – Products & Rocks
Chemistry – Oils, Earth & Atmosphere
Physics – Energy & Electricity
Physics – Radiation & the Universe
Biology – Human Biology
Biology – Evolution & Environment


Each unit is worth 12.5% of the GCSE. The coursework is worth 25% of the GCSE
