Why should I choose this course?
- I am interested in the study of society and the problems that exist within it

What does the course consist of?
- Class discussions, debates and small group activities
- You will be provided with a complete set of structured notes, but your own experience and knowledge of social life are also important
- Exploring topics such as the family, education, religion, crime and criminals; also, examining questions like
• Is the family in decline?
• Who succeeds in education and why?
• Who is the typical criminal in society?
• Does the law reflect everyone's needs in society?
• Who joins religious sects and cults?
- We also examine how sociological research is conducted and how different sociologists study society
What are the entry requirements?
- At least 5 A* to C passes at GCSE
How is this course assessed?
- AS – two examinations
- A-level – two examinations
What might this course lead on to?
- Studying Sociology or other related subjects at University
- Careers which require an understanding of people’s behaviour, e.g. Teaching, Personnel Management, Social Work, Police, Law.
