The college pass rate of 98.3% for advanced level courses was once again above the national average, and this year 30 subjects achieved 100% pass rate. Some of our students' achievements are highlighted below.

Robin Britton, Jack Gordon, Eamon Dodds, Hannah McHale and Jennifer Wheatley all came to college from Ian Ramsey School.
Robin studied Computing (A), Maths (B), Physics (B) and Design Technology (A) whilst Eamon studied Computing (A), Maths (B), Media Studies (B) and English Language (B). They both took part in project week at Durham University, achieving Gold Crest Awards, and are now taking Computer Games programming at Teesside University.
Jack studied Philosophy (B), Psychology (C), Sociology (A) and AS Critical Thinking (B). He is now studying Philosophy at the University of Leeds.
Hannah studied English Language (A), English Literature (A), ICT (A) and AS Critical Thinking (B). She took part in the ICT trip to EuroDisney and is now taking English at The University of Loughborough.
Jenny studied Maths (A), Further Maths (A), Politics (A) and AS Critical Thinking (A). She acted as a maths mentor and took part in the senior maths challenge. She is taking a Maths degree at university and hopes to become a maths teacher.

Louise Dickinson, Ahmad Mitoubsi and Farah Ayub joined us from Ian Ramsey School.
Louise studied Chemistry (A), Maths (A), Geography (B), AS Further Maths (A) and AS Critical Thinking (B). She took part in the Geography trip to Chamonix, acted as a maths mentor and played in the college netball team. She is now studying Mathematics at the University of Sheffield.
Ahmad studied Chemistry (B), Geology (B), and Maths (B). He played in the college football B team and after completing his excellent fieldwork in the Lake District has gone on to study Geology at Durham University.
Farah studied Applied Science (C), Religious Studies (B) and double Health and Social Care (B/B). She helped organise an East African Crisis charity appeal in college and is now taking Diagnostic Radiography at Teesside University.

Sara Carlin, Rachel Bain, Kate Monkhouse, Amy Moody and Manli Siu all joined us from Grangefield School.
Sara studied double Travel & Tourism (B/C) and English Literature (D). She helped to plan a trip to London for fellow students as part of her course and plans to work in the travel industry in the future.
Rachel studied Maths (B), Art & Design (B), AS Design Technology (C) and AS ICT (B). She took part in the ICT trip to EuroDisney and plans to go to university to study Mathematics.
Kate studied Biology (A), Chemistry (A) and Maths (A). She took part in chemistry activities organised by local industry and was commended in the British Biology Olympiad competition. She is studying Medicine at Newcastle University.
Amy studied English Language (A), ICT (A), Art & Design (A) and AS Critical Thinking (A). She acted as a mentor for first year English students and plans to take English at the University of Sheffield.
Manli studied English Literature (A), Government & Politics (B), Media Studies (B) and History (B). She hopes for a career in media production after studying English at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Scott Abbott and Luke Fodden came to college from Grangefield School.
Scott studied Art & Design (A), Biology (D), Psychology (B) and AS Critical Thinking (B). He is now taking an art foundation course at Cleveland College of Art and Design.
Luke studied Art & Design (D), Media Studies (C) and Sociology (D). He is studying Occupational Therapy at York St John's University.

Lucy Laverick came to college from the Norton School and Daniel Todd joined us from Bishopsgarth School.
Lucy studied double Health & Social Care (C/C) and Psychology (D). She went on the London trip and is now studying Child Nursing at Teesside Unviersity.
Daniel studied double ICT (B/B), German (B) and Art (B). He took part in the German exchange visits and is now studying German at Newcastle University.

David Pinder, Hannah Rowlands, Saffron Wade and Thomas Carson all joined college from Our Lady and St Bede School.
David studied Biology (A), Chemistry (B), Maths (B) and Geography (A). He took part in the trip to Chamonix, acted as a maths mentor and entered the senior maths challenge. He is studying Medicine at Durham University.
Hannah studied French (A), English Language (A), English Literature (A) and Government & Politics (A). She went on language exchange visits to Madrid and Aix-en-Provence and took part in the Politics trip to Washington DC. She is studying European Studies and French at Bath University.
Saffron studied English Language (B), Law (B), and Business Studies (B). A very hard working student, she is now studying English at Newcastle University.
Tom studied Economics (A), Maths (A), Physics (A), Biology (A) and Advanced Extension Awards in Physics and Economics. He was the company secretary in the young enterprise enrichment activity in his first year, captained the college university challenge team in his second year, acted as a maths mentor and achieved a gold award in the senior maths challenge. He is studying Economics at Durham University.

Nicola Massey and Charlotte Adamson came to college from Northfield School.
Nicola studied Sociology (A), Biology (D), English Language (B) and AS Critical Thinking (D) and is now studying Physiotherapy at Teesside University.
Charlotte studied Sociology (A), English Language (B) and History (B) and is taking Early Primary Education at Northumbria University.

Rebecca Leighton came to college from St Michael's School to take the BTEC National Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science. She captained the college basketball team and took part in many other sporting activities. She is studying Sport with Coaching Science at Teesside University.

Natalie Ditchburn, Tim Foley, James Smith, Joseph Gibson and Amy Long all joined us from St Michael's School.
Natalie studied Sociology (B), Psychology (B), and Health & Social Care (C). A very hard working student, she is now studying Forensic Psychology at Leeds Trinity and All Saints.
Tim studied English Literature (A), Maths (A), History (A) and AS Critical Thinking (A). He acted in the college plays, having written one of them, as well as winning the 'stars in their eyes' competition and helping write the college newspaper. He is taking a year out before going to university and hopes to write for theatre and television in the future.
James studied Chemistry (B), Biology (A), Maths (A), Economics (A) and AS Critical Thinking (B). He acted as a maths mentor and took part in the Royal Society of Chemistry competition. He is studying Medicine at Liverpool University.
Joe studied Government & Politics (A), Sociology (A), Religious Studies (A) and AS Critical Thinking (D). He took part in trips to London and Washington DC where he represented Bill Clinton in an 'American President Idol' competition! He is studying Law at King's College London and hopes to become a barrister.
Amy studied Dance (B), English Language (B), History (B) and Sports Studies (A). She took part in the dance trip to Portugal and performed in the college dance show. A very talented dancer, she hopes for a career incorporating performing arts and sports therapy.

Jack MacGregor, Natalie Peskin and Kristian Kantor came to college from Blakeston School.
Jack studied Law (B), Government & Politics (B) and Business Studies (A). He took part in the Politics trip to Washington DC and is now studying Politics and Parliamentary Studies at the University of Leeds.
Natalie studied Law (A), Maths (A), Psychology (A) and AS Critical Thinking (A). She was a maths mentor and a member of the college university challenge team. She is taking a Law degree at Durham University.
Kris studied Economics (A), Maths (B) and ICT (C). He was a very effective maths mentor and is now studying Mathematics and Actuarial Studies at Southampton University.

Christopher Harrison, Kimberley Kerr and Christopher Dixon all joined college from Thornaby Community School.
Chris Harrison studied Maths (A), Further Maths (B) and Computing (A). He was a maths mentor at college and is now studying Computing and Networks at Teesside University.
Kimberley studied French (A), Geology (C), History (C) and AS Spanish (B). She took part in all the languages exchange visits and geology fieldwork trips and took GCSE Italian as part of the enrichment programme. She is now studying Contemporary French and Spanish Studies at Northumbria University.
Chris Dixon studied English Language (A), Psychology (C), Sociology (A) and Media Studies (A). A very hardworking student, he is now studying English Language and Linguistics at the University of York.

Amy Green, Caitlin Harrison, Kate Hare and Abigail Smith all came to college from St Patrick's School.
Amy studied Religious Studies (C), Sociology (B) and Art & Design (A). She took part in the London trip and acted as a mentor for religious studies. She is taking a foundation course in Art at Cleveland College of Art and Design and hopes to beocme a teacher.
Caitlin studied Art & Design (B), English Literature (A) and Theatre Studies and Drama (A). She took part in the college play and is now studying Drama and English Literature at Glasgow University.
Kate studied Religious Studies (A), English Language (B), Media Studies (B) and AS Critical Thinking (C). She was a student mentor for religious studies and is now studying English Language and Linguistics at the University of Sheffield.
Abigail studied double Health and Social Care (A/B), Applied Science (C) and AS Psychology. She is now studying Radiotherapy and Oncology at Sheffield Hallam University.

Aovais Mazhar joined college three years ago.
After successfully completing a one-year GCSE course to improve his qualifications Aovais went on to study advanced levels in Law (A), Government & Politics (A) and Religious Studies (A). He took part in the Politics trip to Washington DC and is now studying at Teesside University to become a civil engineer.

Rachael Harrington and Frances Boyd-Hill both came to college from schools in Hartlepool. Ryan Varley joined us from Conyers School.
Rachael studied Maths (A), Government & Politics (A), Philosophy (A) and AS Critical Thinking (A). She always worked to a very high standard and achieved a GCSE in Italian as part of the enrichment programme.
Frances studied French (A), Spanish (A), Maths (A) and Chemistry (B) as well as achieving GCSE Italian. She took part in all the languages exchange visits and acted as both a maths and chemistry mentor. She is spending a gap year travelling and working abroad to improve her languages before taking up a place at Cambridge University to study French and Spanish.
Ryan studied Maths (A), Biology (A), Physics (A), Chemistry (A) and AS Critical Thinking (A). He also achieved a bronze award in the Biology Olympiad and is now studying Natural Sciences at University College London.

Sean Watson, Nicole McGhee and Jamie Durent are amongst the many students who are the first to join college from All Saints School.
Sean is studying Maths, Computing, Geography and Psychology. He took part in the Geography trip to Chamonix.
Nicole is studying English Language, Psychology, ICT and Applied Science. After completing her A-levels at college she plans to go on to university and become a primary school teacher.
Jamie is studying Law, Government & Politics, Media Studies and English Language. He took part in the Politics trip to Washington DC where he was invited to sign the memorial book, on behalf of the college, at the site of the terrorist attacks at the Pentagon.
After completing the AS year of their courses, they are now looking forward to the second year of Advanced level study at college.
