Class of 2019 hailed at awards ceremony

Former students of Stockton Sixth Form were recognised for their outstanding achievement during a Celebration Evening awards ceremony last night.

Following a record year of exceptional A Level results in 2019, all students were presented with their official examination certificates and fourteen students were selected to receive special cross-college awards for their progress, achievement and work in the local community.

The Old Stocktonians’ Association recognised students who showed exceptional performance in Science and Technology. Prizes were awarded to highflying students Martin Stoves who achieved  A*A*A*A in Biology, Chemistry, Maths & AS Further Maths and is now studying Biochemistry at Newcastle University and Ben Thomas who achieved A*AAAA in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Computer Science and EPQ and is now studying Computer Science at the University of Cambridge.

The Overall Contribution to College Prize went to former Ian Ramsey pupil Aleeyah Mahmood. Aleeyah made a profound impression of the staff, governors and her fellow students during her time at Stockton Sixth Form, in her nomination from staff she was described as being “Determined from the first day to excel in all her work. This combined with an outgoing, friendly personality. She was a great addition to the college, she brought warmth, happiness, positivity and generosity to everything she did and was an immense supporter of the college as an ambassador for the college and mentor for new students. .”

The Overall Achievement award was awarded to Oscar Solis, a former Our Lady & St Bede pupil who was recognised for his outstanding efforts and achievements to secure AA*A*A* in Biology, Chemistry, Maths & Further Maths. Oscar was unable to attend the evening but we wish him the best of luck for the future.

For the first time at the college, they had individual subject award winners; Psychology Award – Stephanie Schiller,  History Award – Zachary Graham, English Language Award – Grace Joynes, Law Award – Gurdeep Singh, Maths Award – George Reed, Health & Social Care Award – Ahmed Hamid Ahmed, Performing Arts Award – Stephanie Schiller, Economics Award – Gurdeep Singh, Outstanding Achievement in Endeavour Award –  Josie MacLaren and Outstanding Level 2 Student Award – Kyle Hill.
