The T Level in Digital Support and Security is the gold standard route into digital careers. Unlike many other qualifications, it includes a guaranteed industry placement in the local area — giving you real-world experience alongside your studies.
The digital industry is one of the UK’s biggest employers, with 1.46 million people working in digital companies and around 45,000 digital job vacancies at any one time. Digital skills are relevant across almost every sector, and the UK continues to invest heavily in digital skills and commerce. This course gives you a strong foundation for that landscape.
This course is ideal for students who are passionate about the digital industry. Over two years, you will build the core knowledge underpinning most digital roles and develop the specific skills needed to enter employment in your chosen occupation.
Year 1 gives you a broad understanding of the digital industry, covering: Problem Solving, Introduction to Digital Business Support, Data, Business Context, Legislation and Regulatory Requirements, Emerging Issues, Digital Environments, and Security. You will also complete an Employer-Set Project, designed in collaboration with industry professionals.
In Year 2, you will focus on the Occupational Specialism of Cybersecurity. This includes applying procedures and controls to maintain the digital security of an organisation and its data, and proposing remediation advice based on a security risk assessment. Assessment is through coursework and practical skills.
You will have the chance to visit companies and institutions across the area, and you will complete a substantial industry placement of 315 hours — a core part of the T Level qualification that sets it apart from other sixth form courses.
