Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College is one of eighty-eight new providers that have been selected to deliver 18 T Levels from September 2022. The new subjects which are equivalent to studying 3 A Levels include Digital, Construction, Legal, Finance and Accounting, Engineering and Manufacturing.
T Levels will play a vital role to make sure young people gain the skills and experience they need to progress and help recover our economy after coronavirus. They represent the biggest shake up to technical education in a generation. They will provide young people with the knowledge and experience needed to open the door into skilled employment, further study or a higher apprenticeship.
T Levels are high-quality technical alternatives to A Levels. They combine classroom theory, practical learning and a work placement of at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days) to make sure students have the skills they need to progress and help rebuild the economy. Young people across the country will benefit from these new qualifications.
Designed with industry experts, the new qualifications make sure students have the skills they need to thrive in the workplace and give businesses the workforce they need to succeed. T Levels have been backed by an additional half a billion pounds of investment every year whilst programmes are fully rolled out, alongside £133 million to ensure students have access to industry standard equipment and high-quality facilities.
Joanna Bailey CEO of Tees Valley Collaborative Trust and Principal of Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College said:
“We are excited to be able to offer these important new qualifications which will hugely benefit students in the area. They will grant young people more options when choosing which route they want to access Post-16 as well as enabling them to achieve significant work experience alongside gaining their qualifications.”
