Two ambitious Stockton Sixth Form students have their sights set on performing at the Edinburgh Fringe this summer.
Comedy duo ‘Third Absurd’ made up of former student Con Best and current student Harry Lidford have entirely written, directed and produced ‘Squeeze Harder, Zanni’, a slapstick comedy about a benevolent master who tries to get his useless servant a girlfriend.
Squeeze Harder, Zanni! Debuted a couple of weeks ago in a one off performance, the show was a complete sell out and both Con and Harry were praised for their performances.
Student Harry Lidford said “We have had great fun working on Squeeze Harder, Zanni! and it would feel like an amazing achievement to perform it at the Edinburgh Fringe”.
In order to make this dream a reality, Con and Harry must raise the entry fee of £4,000 which they aim to do by fundraising.
They plan to do this by putting on additional performances on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th February at 7pm at Stockton Sixth Form’s drama studio inside Stockton Town Football Club.
Teacher Nicola Mejia said: “Con and Harry will perform Squeeze Harder, Zanni; a hysterical two-hander written, directed and produced entirely by themselves. What had originally been a one minute sketch in class became a very polished 15 minute exam piece and is now a fully-fledged, rip-roaringly funny riot of a play.
“It’s been a privilege to follow its evolution. I urge you all to take the time to come along and see it and in turn support these two young comic protégés and their dream to perform at the Edinburgh Festival. I’d say break a leg, but given all of the slap stick in the show they might just do that! So instead, I’ll wish them both the best of luck with their future endeavours”.
If you would like to purchase tickets for the performance or if you have a way for them to achieve their dream of attending the festival send them an email via email@example.com or visit them on Facebook at Third Absurd.
