The embers from Bonfire Night may still be warm and we’re still drowning in sweet treats from Halloween but that hasn’t stopped a bit of festive cheer crashing through the doors of Stockton Sixth Form College today. Christmas has brazenly taken over one of our classrooms as Sarah Murray’s first year tutor group prepare their shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.
Having made the decision to support this worthy cause, the girls set about raising money last month through cake sales, a competition to guess how many sweets in the jar and a raffle in order to buy gifts for children in circumstances much less privileged than our own. The boxes will be taken to a drop off point later this week and will be sent overseas by the charity. I’m sure the children will be delighted with their presents. Well done to those who organised these events – it’s lovely to see our students doing their bit for charity and spreading some goodwill.
