A high-flying Stockton Sixth Form College student has been offered a place on a prestigious programme with one of the UK’s leading accountancy firms.
Former Ian Ramsey Academy student Oli Ross, 17, has secured an offer for PricewaterhouseCoopers’ (PwC) college leaver programme, which provides a fast track route for aspiring Chartered Accountants.
The firm works in association with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and gives students the chance to enjoy paid placements and a secured job offer upon graduation.
Oli is on track to achieve A* grades in his challenging Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics A-levels.
Oli said: “The college’s careers advisor ran a talk on what we could potentially do after college and mentioned the possibility of doing a sponsored degree.
“Getting the support to study your qualification in a working environment was something which really appealed to me.
“I researched the top four accountancy firms and applied to PricewaterhouseCoopers. I was selected to go through rigorous and intensive testing and was thrilled to come out the other side with a job offer.
“The support at Stockton Sixth Form has been integral to my achievement.”
Rachel Angus, Vice Principal at Stockton Sixth Form College, said: “Oli is an exceptional student who shows endless determination and commitment to succeed. He has performed above and beyond our expectations throughout his time at Stockton Sixth Form and we are delighted he has been rewarded with such a prestigious offer. We will be sad to see him leave but without doubt he will be an asset to PwC and their college leaver programme.”
