Course Introduction

Drama & Theatre Studies is a very lively course which incorporates the practical study of set–texts from all eras of theatre as well as investigating the theory and practise of acting, directing and staging live theatre.

Who is the course for?

Students who want to know more about drama and theatre production, who are creative, enjoy collaborating with others and enjoy performing.

Course Content

This course offers you the chance to devise your own productions and to analyse and review professional performances. You will also look at the theory and practice of key theatre practitioners who have had a significant influence on the modern stage as we know it, such as Stanislavski, Artaud, and Brecht.

Assessment

This course is assessed by written exams, practical performances, and coursework.

Progression

Drama and Theatre Studies students progress to higher education, taking Drama as a specialist course or combined with other subjects.

It can also lead onto careers in many different areas such as Acting, Writing, Directing, Stage Management, Broadcasting, Event Management, PR and Marketing, Production Design, Teaching, Therapy, Working with Children & Community Work.
