At Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College, we are committed to providing support for our students’ mental health and well-being.
We understand that there are times when a young person may experience problems, feel under pressure, and find it hard to cope. Our therapeutic counsellors can offer support and understanding, and listen and respond in a non-judgmental way. Ultimately, they will respect students’ values, choices and lifestyles.
Feeling anxious, stressed, angry or low? That’s normal – most teenagers are!
Here are some tips to help you cope:
However, if your feelings are too intense or last too long, we can support you. We offer one-off drop-ins, short and long-term counselling and psychotherapy sessions, and can help signpost to external and/or specialist agencies.
We can also offer support with:

You can book your place by contacting therapyservice@atomix.ac.uk or simply ‘drop in’. Please note: this is a first come first served system. However, if you are experiencing a mental health emergency, you must contact the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) crisis team immediately on 08000 516171. They are available 24/7.
If you feel weekly sessions would be more beneficial, please contact therapyservice@atomix.ac.uk and we will send you a referral form to complete. Once we have your information, we will decide which counsellor is best suited to meet your needs and then you will be invited to complete an in-person initial assessment. This is to gather even more information about you and your life so that we can create a plan to best help you. After that, your sessions will begin.
If you require any more information about the Therapy Service, please contact therapyservice@atomix.ac.uk
